Located 30 minutes drive from Lisbon city and framed by the Arrábida Natural Park, Quinta do Peru Golf & Country Club is a beautifully crafted design by Rocky Roquemore and is rated among the ‘Top 100 courses in Continental Europe’ in the prestigious Golf World magazine ranking. Opened in 1994, the parkland layout meanders through verdant pines and provides a 6,640-yard, par 72 test, with astute bunkering and true-rolling, quick greens that will offer a good examination of any putting stroke. Practice facilities are first-class and, as such, are a popular draw for visiting golf schools from central and northern Europe. A large and welcoming clubhouse features a pro shop, restaurant, bar and a sun terrace, in order to take full advantage of the famous Portuguese sunshine.

PGA Aroeira No. 2 has been claiming challengers from across Europe since April 2000. Steel took advantage of the magnificent setting and laid out a course capable of hosting tournaments of the very highest level.

Players who tee off from the back – from which the course measures more than 6,300m – should expect a tough test that lives long in the memory. This tour of spectacular woodland challenges players to navigate five vast lakes, deviously placed fairway bunkers and a gallery of undulating greens. However, the course welcomes players of all abilities and other tee options are available on all 18 holes.

Aroeira No. 2 has been the stage for two editions of the Ladies Open of Portugal on the Ladies European Tour, as well as the competition’s Qualifying School.

Winding through protected pine woodland, PGA Aroeira No. 1 immerses golfers in the heart of Portugal’s natural beauty – despite being just 40 minutes from Lisbon. A masterpiece from golfing icon Frank Pennink, the course opened in 1972 and was quickly christened ‘the Wentworth of Lisbon’ by visiting players.
